This program is for foreign workers who have a job offer letter in Alberta and those who have a positive assessment in LMIA(Labour Market Impact Assessment).
On February 16, 2022, the immigration department changed its name from AINP(Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program) to AAIP(Alberta Advantage Immigration Program), they also said to add two new streams in the program.
AAIP has changed its process for services and applications, from now on they charge fees for submitting applications and providing services. The Alberta Advantage Immigration program (AAIP) is divided into two parts:
Streams for workers:
- Alberta Express Entry Stream
- Alberta Opportunity Stream
- Accelerated Tech Pathway Stream
- Rural Renewal Stream
Streams for entrepreneurs:
- Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
- Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
- Farm Stream
- Rural Entrepreneur Stream
Eligibility for Alberta Express Entry Stream
- You must be a nominee in the Express Entry pool;
- You must be willing to immigrate to Alberta on a permanent basis;
- Proof of an organization in Alberta, you are currently working;
- You need to score a minimum of 300 CRS(Comprehensive Ranking System)points.
Application Fee: The application fee for Alberta Express Entry system is CAD 500
Eligibility for Opportunity Stream – Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
- You must show proof of a work permit from an Alberta employer;
- It would be best if you had a working status in an organization that is related to your skill set and experience;
- There is a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark(CLB) required, it would be best if you had a CLB of 4 or 5, it also depends on which occupation you are in;
- You should have a high school passing certificate;
- You need to show proof of work experience of 1 year in the last 18 months, and 2 years of work experience in the last 30 months in Canada.
Application fee: The application fee for the opportunity stream is CAD 500
Eligibility for Tech Pathway Stream
- You must have a valid Express Entry profile;
- You need to score a minimum of 300 CRS(Comprehensive Ranking System)points.
- Shown interest to immigrate to Alberta on a permanent basis;
- Proof of job offer letter from Alberta or must be working in the technology department.
Application fee: The fee required for AATP is CAD 500
Eligibility for Rural Renewal Stream – Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
- You should have a job offer letter from Alberta;
- It is asked to have a work experience of 1 year in the last 18 months, and 2 years of work experience in the last 30 months in Canada.
- There is a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark(CLB) required;
- You should have a high school passing certificate equivalent to the education standard of Canada;
- Sufficient funds are required to bear the cost of living for themselves and their family members.

Application fee: The application fee for Rural Renewal Stream is CAD 500
Eligibility for Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
- You need to have a work experience of at least 6 months as a business owner or as a manager;
- A proof of your business finances;
- In addition to business finances, a foreign institution post-secondary education and an ECA(Education Credential Assessment) are required;
- You should show a presentation explaining the vision of your business;
- You must score 5 in CLB( Canadian Language Benchmark).
- Must have 51% ownership of the business if established outside Edmonton and a minimum of 34% ownership if the business is inside Edmonton;
- You need to have an investment of 50,000 CAD in the regional area and 100,000 CAD for an urban area;
- A recommendation letter from an approved AAIP agency;
- You need to have sufficient funds to invest in your business and to bear the cost of living for yourself and your family members.
Application Fee: A total of 3,500 CAD is required to apply for this stream.
Eligibility criteria for Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
- You should have studied in Alberta for at least 24 months;
- It’s asked to show a valid PGWP(Post Graduate Work Permit) while applying for the graduate stream;
- You need to score at least 7 points in CLB(Canadian Language Benchmark);
- Must have at least 34% ownership in the existing business in Alberta or should start a new business.
Application Fee: The fee required is CAD 3,500 for a graduate entrepreneur stream.
Eligibility for Farm Stream- Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
- Firstly, you should have knowledge of farming;
- Must have good farming managerial skills;
- You need to have sufficient funds to invest in your business and to bear the cost of living for yourself and your family members;
- A minimum investment of CAD 500,000 is required;
- At last, you need a document consisting of your investment and farming plans.
Application fee: The total amount of fees is CAD 500
Eligibility for Rural Entrepreneur Stream
- You should have an experience of 3 years of a business owner or 4 years of experience as a senior manager in the last 10 years from the date of submission of the application;
- You need to have a high school passing certificate equivalent to the education standard of Canada;
- Minimum of 4 points in CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark);
- Your net worth should be 30,000 CAD;
- You should invest at least 200,000 CAD in your business;
- Rural Alberta community support letter.
