For individuals who want to apply for the program, you should keep in mind that AAIP is not obliged to process your application, so you need to provide a quality application with the correct and complete information filled in it. After, you have submitted your application fees you will not get a refund.

Step 1: Read all the terms and conditions of AAIP carefully

Step 3: Submit your application online
If you are applying for Alberta Opportunity Stream, only then AAIP will receive your application online. AAIP will not accept your Alberta Opportunity Stream application via mail.
Follow these two steps to start the processing of your application:
- Fill all the details in your online application;
- Submit all the required documents; which include:
- Use of Representative form
- Spouse, Dependents, and Common-Law Partners Authorization form

Step 4: Pay your Alberta Advantage Immigration Program application fee
You need to pay CAD 500 for your online application.
Once you have submitted your application and paid your fees, AAIP will not consider your refund request. Your application fees cover the processing fees, even if you have not received any nomination certificate. Moreover, there is no guarantee that AAIP will issue a nomination certificate to you.
There are different application fees for every AAIP application, and you will not get a refund after you have paid the fees.
After you have applied for AAIP
The process after you have applied for the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is as follows:
You will receive a notification from AAIP
AAIP will send you an email from the account @gov.ab.ca. So don’t get confused if you receive an email from any Gmail, Yahoo, etc because AAIP uses only the @gov.ab.ca account. If there is any suspicious email in your account, you should directly contact AAIP.
If you applied using the online (AAIP) portal:
You can see your AAIP number on the application page (My application section) on the AAIP portal.
Keep your information updated
If there is any information missing or has changed according to you then, you should update it while you are waiting for the AAIP officer to assess your application.
You must update the following sections of your AAIP application:
- If you see any updates or corrections in the information and documents provided, you should update them in your application;
- You need to update the contact information, employment, and family status in your application;
- Submit all the updated documents like the work permit(s) and LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment;
- You must still be a temporary resident and should submit your work permit.
Application reconsideration request
Firstly you should read the reasons for the decline of your application. If you can tell AAIP that there was an error in your application assessment, then AAIP may approve your request for reconsideration.
You need to pay CAD 100 for the application reconsideration request. You can request only one time for application reconsideration per application.
