IRCC invites 23,100 sponsors and how to apply for PGP programs Canada announced the application process for PGP (Parents and Grandparents Program) 2022, and it will issue an Invitation to apply ITAs to 23,100 potential sponsors over the next 14 days in the Parents sponsorship program 2022.

Canada also mentions that this figure will be enough to reach the target of 15,000 PGP 2022 sponsorship applications.

IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) will start invitations a little later and will draw from the candidates who showed their interest in the Parents and Grandparents sponsorship program in autumn 2020. There are currently 155,000 potential sponsors in the pool according to IRCC.

 PGP programs Application Process

To apply for PGP programs, you should first apply for the following:

  1. You should apply to become a PGP sponsor;
  2. Your grandparents or parents should apply for the PR.

You should submit both the online applications- permanent residence and sponsorship applications at the same time.

Step 1: Receive an invite from IRCC

IRCC randomly sends invitations to apply for Parents Sponsorship Canada 2022. You can only apply after you fill out the “interest to sponsor” form.

Step 2: Fill out the following forms to apply for PGP programs

You should start filling out the sponsorship form only after the IRCC will send you invites to apply for the PGP programs.

Below are the forms that are to be filled out by the sponsor:

  • Parents and Grandparents Invitation to Apply Letter, and upload it with your confirmation number under the section “other” in your online application.
    1. Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking (IMM 1344), and Application to Sponsor;
    2. Income Sources for the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship (IMM 5748), if this applies;
    3. Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union (IMM 5409). Note: You along with your partner and any person who administers the declaration should sign this form by hand.

PGP programs updates

Forms for the persons you’re sponsoring:

  • Parents and Grandparents Invitation to Apply Letter, and upload it with your confirmation number under the section “other” in your online application.
    1. Application to sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement, and Undertaking (IMM 1344); Note: Both sponsor and applicant should sign this form by hand.
    2. Financial Evaluation for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship (IMM 5768); Note: Sponsor along with co-signer (if any) should sign this form by hand.
    3. Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union (IMM 5409). Note: You
       along with your partner and any person who administers the declaration should sign this form by hand.

The person you’re sponsoring should:

    • Upload the forms with their online applications;
    • Electronically sign the whole application including the family members.

Forms for the person being sponsored:

  • Canada Generic Application Form (IMM 0008);
  • Background/Declaration Schedule A from (IMM 5669);
  • Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) form;
  • Supplementary information- (IMM 5662).

Furthermore, if you’re a dependant on file who is age 18 years of age or older should also fill out a separate IMM 5406, IMM 5662, IMM 5669 and if applicable, IMM 5476.

If they apply to any of your dependant or to you, in that case, you should fill out these forms:

  • Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409);
  • Statutory Declaration of Severance of a Common-Law Union (IMM 5519);
  • Details of Military Service (IMM 5546).

Step 3: Pay application fees to apply for the PGP programs

Your sponsorship fees include:

  • Processing fees;
  • Fees for the Right of Permanent Residence Fee;
  • Biometrics fee.

Step 4: Submit your application to IRCC

Ensure all the details filled in your application are correct before submitting your application for Parents Sponsorship Canada 2022:

  • You should answer all the questions to the best of your knowledge;
  • Sign your application electronically;
  • Attach your fee receipt;
  • Attach all the other required documents;
  • Documents including your letter of invitation, and upload them with your application.

Note: IRCC will return your application if it is not filled out completely by email. You can resubmit the application after fixing errors.

Step 5: Send additional information

Meanwhile, your application is under process, you should submit the following documents to apply for PGP programs:

  • Medical exam results;
  • Biometrics;
  • Police certificates;
  • Adoption or birth of a child;
  • Changes in the marital status;
  • Death of an applicant and dependent.
