What is the OINP Skilled Trades stream?

OINP Skilled Trades stream allows skilled workers to settle in Ontario permanently and because it is aligned with the Express Entry, you need to have an Express Entry profile to show your eligibility.

It is among the Human Capital streams of OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) which is managed by Ontario’s province and sends nominations to eligible skilled workers.

The OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) only sends NOI (Notification Of Interest) to the candidates who are suitable for the work required in Ontario from the Express Entry pool. After nomination, you will get an addition of 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile, which guarantees that you will get an Invitation to Apply.

OINP application procedure

Applicants may not directly apply for the OINP Skilled Trades stream, you must first receive an NOI (Notification Of Interest) from Ontario via IRCC.

After receiving the NOI, you will have 45 days to submit your online application to Ontario via the application management system. Candidates should gather all the important paperwork and documents along with the application fee of $1,500.

After you have submitted the application, OINP will review it, if successful you will get additional 600 CRS points along with an ITA from the Express Entry pool in the draw.

Once you have submitted the application for permanent residence, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) will process the application within six months which varies from profile to profile.
